The X-8 was designed to deliver combat units to a planetary surface and escape to fight again. Its own weaponry is not heavy, but it can carry a single large tank, several smaller armor units, or quantities of infantry. Many forces also use X-8s behind the lines to transport raw materials . . . but ready to resume their combat role in case of enemy incursion.
Combat performance enhanced by HC-4 Space Runway refueling and repair facilities. X-8 units have +15 DF and one extra attack when at the same world with a friendly HC-4.
